In architecture, ventilation is the replacement of air from the inside of a building through the extraction or injection of air. The purpose of ventilation is:
To ensure the replacement of polluted air
To ensure the salubrity of the air, both in terms of humidity control, concentration of gases or particles in suspension.
To fight against smoke in the event of a fire
To lower the concentration of gases or particles to adequate levels for the functioning of machinery or installations.
To protect certain areas from pathogens that may penetrate through the air.
To collaborate in the thermal conditioning of the building.
